Shrove Tuesday

2019-03-05

Shrove Tuesday is called Fettisdagen (Fat Tuesday) in Swedish. Instead of pankcakes, the Swedes have traditionally eaten “semla” before the Christian fasting period of Lent. Semla is a small bun, flavoured with cardamom and filled with almond paste and whipped cream.
