Online book fair

Do you miss attending book fairs? We too, but now you can launch your own literary promotion campaign on social media with the help of the streaming service developed by the Gothenburg Book Fair! This offer is limited in time so don’t hesitate to contact us straight away!

This specially designed toolkit offers three uniquely compiled seminar packages, consisting of fifteen Author conversations, three Critic’s choice seminars, and two in-depth Branch seminars, all complete with authors’ bios and easy-to-use scripts for social media postings.

Author conversations

A selection of fifteen conversations with Swedish authors and cultural personalities who feature in this year’s programme is subtitled into English, Spanish, French, German and Arabic. The themes include a focus on current publishing trends in children’s and young adults literature, as well as fiction, non-fiction and crime fiction. These conversations have a duration of approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

Critics’ choice

In connection to the Gothenburg Book Fair the Swedish Literature Exchange invited a group of critics to write and talk about their favourite books published in 2020. The material includes three talks in English as well as a publication you can get from the “Book Talks” link below.

Branch seminars

In addition to above seminars we offer two online lectures on what’s currently happening on the Swedish book market, each 30 minutes and subtitled in English. One of them gives you general information on the rapid changes in Swedish publishing while the other present contemporary trends in Swedish childrens’ and young adult literature.

This is a collaboration between Gothenburg Book Fair, the Swedish Arts Council (and it’s Swedish Litareture Exchange) as well as the Swedish Institute.

Instructions

Make a selection of the seminars you think will attract your target group. A list of available seminars can be found here. Use the prepared social media posts under Building blocks for each seminar to create own postings on social media channels of your choice (e.g. Facebook, Instagram).

Set up a digital event, either together with a local organisation (such as local book fairs, literary festivals, magazines, publishers, libraries) or just share on your social media platform. Decide whether you wish to share the material following a set schedule (for instance one post per day, or three posts in a week), or if you prefer a more improvised approach.

Start the campaign by using the promotion film to push for the series in social media. The film comes with a script so that local language can be used.

Possible follow-up activities could include Facebook Live events or similar with a local journalist/writer/translator/librarian interviewing a particular Swedish author/critic/publisher on adjacent themes. Visit the #DigitallyYours toolkit for possible formats.
