Sweden live: National Day @home

During Sweden’s National Day on June 6 the Swedish Institute will broadcast a full-day stream presenting the very best of Sweden to viewers. The live stream will feature music and performances, greetings and short features of famous Swedish people, cook-a-long, sightseeing etc.

The stream will be in English and can be adapted to facebook. Below you will find marketing materials to enable you to invite your networks to take part of the celebrations. Since a lot of the stream will be live broadcasted there will be polls and other ways for the audience to interact with the stream.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch and help us make the best possible National Day celebration!

Technical instructions

Technical instructions

Please note the following:

  • The stream can only be shared on Facebook. (Instagram and Twitter are not possible). But you can market the event on those platforms and tell them to tune in to the Facebook stream.
  • The comment section cannot be turned off. You can hide comments if necessary, but not delete them. You should therefore staff properly during the stream, if you think it is needed.
  • If you don’t have the possibility to manage the comment section and think it is needed, we recommend that you invite your followers to our Facebook event instead. It will be staffed 24/7. However, you will then lose the possibility to communicate with your viewers.
  • We offer a variety of content in the stream. The content reflects the diversity of our country. Please see the final programme for more details.

Frequently asked questions

We get a lot of questions on the material and will try to share the answers here.

Will it be possible to subtitle the live stream?

Unfortunately, there will be no technical solutions available for adding subtitles to the live stream but some of the material will be available in the week before so that you can translate some of it and share in the comments during the stream

Where will you stream it?

Our goal is to stream from a separate website that you can embed on facebook.

When can we see the full schedule?

The final programme is published, see top of the page.

What kind of content will you offer?

It will be a smorgasbord of Sweden including food, traditions, music, culture etc.

We would like to add a film/greeting from our ambassador, can we do that?

It will not be possible to add local content to the stream but we encourage that you invite your network to a live stream in your own channels where you can greet the guests before encouraging them to join the Sweden Live stream. More information in the communication plan found above.
