This ranking is from The Economist ’s annual glass ceiling index, which assesses where women have the best and worst chances of equal treatment at work in OECD countries.
The 2024 index sees Iceland in the top spot, and Norway, Finland, and France rounding out the top five. The Nordics continue to walk the talk on helping women complete university education, secure employment, and rise to senior positions, with policies that provide quality parental-leave systems and flexible work schedules a critical factor in driving equality in the labour force.
