Around the world, women’s voices remain underrepresented in leadership and politics, often as a result of discriminatory laws, attitudes, and gender stereotypes.
In Sweden, nearly 50 per cent of members of parliament are women, making it one of the most gender-equal legislatures in the world. By creating conditions for women’s economic empowerment, Sweden has enabled greater participation in leadership and policymaking. Ensuring fair representation means more perspectives are included in shaping policies that impact everyone.
On Women’s Day and every day, we support equal opportunities for leadership and political participation.
