Karl-Bertil Jonsson’s future is predestined by his father, manager of a department store. But the quite naive young man has Robin Hood as his hero, and he´s dreaming of a noble life rather than plunge into business figures. One day he meets Vera, a poor girl his age living with her little sister in an orphanage in the slum. She opens Karl-Bertil’s eyes and he realizes that some people are less fortunate than the family Jonsson…
Inspired by Robin Hood, Karl-Bertil decides to “to steal from the rich and give to the poor”. During his holiday job at the post office he puts aside Christmas packages to people with an annual income over 50.000 kronor and hide them in a special sack. On Christmas eve, dressed as Santa clause, he heads for the slums and give away Christmas presents to the poor.

Director’s biography: Hannes Holm has written and directed successful films in Sweden for 20 years. In 2010 he wrote and directed the feature film Behind Blue Skies (Himlen är oskyldigt blå), which received both a Swedish Guldbagge Award and amazing reviews. The feature film A Man Called Ove (En man som heter Ove, 2015) was a huge success in Sweden and was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2017 he made a biopic on the musician Ted Gärdestad, A Moon of My Own which reached a wide audience in Sweden.

How to create film events The annual Swedish Film Selection is produced by the Swedish Institute (SI) in collaboration with the Swedish Film Institute (SFI) and the film industry. The overall aim is to promote Swedish talent as well as increase the audience’s knowledge of Sweden through the film’s insights and depiction of core values.
Before organizing a film event, make sure you follow the basic rules and guidelines set by SI.
How to apply When planning to submit an application or a request be aware of the following; There are two types applications, the first one being a request to use material and the second one is for financial support for costs surrounding the toolkit activation. Meaning it is possible to submit a request to use the material without any financial support from SI.

How to preview films and get a hold of film material In order to make sure that a film as a whole is relevant to the context where it's screened, or that it does not consist of scenes that are inappropriate for the intended audience, or go against any local rules, make sure to preview the entire movie. To do so, log in to our film portal for the Swedish Film Selection using log in details provided by the project manager.
