Director’s biography: Tarik Saleh has a background as one of the most influential graffiti artists in Europe in the 80’s. His dramatic feature film debut came with Metropia (2009), a dystopic animation with Stellan and Alexander Skarsgård, Juliette Lewis, Vincent Gallo and Udo Kier. The film premiered at Venice Film Festival as opening film for Critics’ Week. His film The Nile Hilton Incident won ‘The Grand Jury Prize’ at Sundance 2017, received a Guldbagge Award for ‘Best film’ in 2018, was nominated as ‘Best Foreign Film’ at the César Awards and was a box office hit with more than 400 thousand tickets sold in France. He directed The Contractor (2022) starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Kiefer Sutherland. Episodes of the futuristic HBO-series Westworld (2018) and Ray Donavon for Showtime. In 2014 he directed the Swedish thriller Tommy (2014). He is also known for his collaborations with singer Lykke Li. The music video I Follow Rivers has over 60 million views on YouTube. Tarik Saleh also directed the documentaries Gitmo: The New Rules of War (2005) and Sacrificio: Who Betrayed Che Guevara (2001) together with Erik Gandini. In 2000 Tarik Saleh founded the production company Atmo together with producer Kristina Åberg.

How to create film events The annual Swedish Film Selection is produced by the Swedish Institute (SI) in collaboration with the Swedish Film Institute (SFI) and the film industry. The overall aim is to promote Swedish talent as well as increase the audience’s knowledge of Sweden through the film’s insights and depiction of core values.

How to apply When planning to submit an application or a request be aware of the following; There are two types applications, the first one being a request to use material and the second one is for financial support for costs surrounding the toolkit activation. Meaning it is possible to submit a request to use the material without any financial support from SI.

How to preview films and get a hold of film material In order to make sure that a film as a whole is relevant to the context where it's screened, or that it does not consist of scenes that are inappropriate for the intended audience, or go against any local rules, make sure to preview the entire movie. To do so, log in to our film portal for the Swedish Film Selection using log in details provided by the project manager.

"content": "Director’s biography: Tarik Saleh has a background as one of the most influential graffiti artists in Europe in the 80’s. His dramatic feature film debut came with Metropia (2009), a dystopic animation with Stellan and Alexander Skarsgård, Juliette Lewis, Vincent Gallo and Udo Kier. The film premiered at Venice Film Festival as opening film for Critics’ Week. His film The Nile Hilton Incident won ‘The Grand Jury Prize’ at Sundance 2017, received a Guldbagge Award for ‘Best film’ in 2018, was nominated as ‘Best Foreign Film’ at the César Awards and was a box office hit with more than 400 thousand tickets sold in France. He directed The Contractor (2022) starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Kiefer Sutherland. Episodes of the futuristic HBO-series Westworld (2018) and Ray Donavon for Showtime. In 2014 he directed the Swedish thriller Tommy (2014). He is also known for his collaborations with singer Lykke Li. The music video I Follow Rivers has over 60 million views on YouTube. Tarik Saleh also directed the documentaries Gitmo: The New Rules of War (2005) and Sacrificio: Who Betrayed Che Guevara (2001) together with Erik Gandini. In 2000 Tarik Saleh founded the production company Atmo together with producer Kristina Åberg.",
